Speaker Biography

Rupert Lee-Browne is Chairman of Caxton and a FinTech investor. He founded Caxton with £25,000 capital and has driven the business towards its £1bn turnover and status as one of the UK’s finest entrepreneurial success stories.

Prior to establishing Caxton, Rupert launched several successful innovative businesses in the finance and media sectors, all with a focus on new technology. He is now innovating payment solutions by investing in smart blockchain tech both within Caxton and in other businesses.

Keen to champion today’s technology entrepreneurs, Rupert regularly speaks at industry events about cyber security, how the future lies in blockchain for the finance industry, and the British start-up ecosystem.

Before founding Caxton in 2002, Rupert had an extensive career in media; working for broadcasters, publishers, as well as founding internet start-ups. He started his first business aged 22. As CEO he leads Caxton’s strategy of building innovative technology for payments and ensures the company remains at the forefront of our industry. Outside the business he’s a regular speaker and media commentator on fintech and payments as well as investor in tech start-ups. Rupert holds a degree from London University and is visiting lecturer at Bayes Business School.

Caxton: One Payment Every Platform

How many different services can one company need for performing one of their most important functions? Finance teams today are inundated with single-issue services that don’t talk effectively to the other services they use. It’s a blocker to efficiency and takes up valuable time – so it was one of the core reasons we opened up the CXTN platform to our clients. One login, one platform, every payment. Listen to our CEO and Founder Rupert Lee-Browne share his thoughts on how our API simplifies complex processes and takes the manual work out of payments.

It’s easy to say that it’s a board’s job to manage the risk of cyber security. It’s even easier still to say that it is entirely the Chief Information Security Officer’s (CISO) or the CTO’s role to carry the weight of responsibility – and of course the blame when things go wrong. At Caxton, our culture embeds that it’s the whole company’s responsibility - to understand the gravity of the threat, to give it the attention it needs and to make a real effort to understand what it means. Founder and CEO at Caxton Payments, Rupert Lee-Browne discusses this culture and what we do to embed security at the FT Cyber Security Summit 2022 #FTCyber Media is provided by, edited and published with permission from Financial Times Live.
