1 Minute Market Rundown
- US adds most jobs since March and sees 55,000 added across the two previous months of jobs
- 162,000 added in August gives USD rally on Friday before it petered out this morning
- Quiet week of releases ahead of more major news next week
USDUSD firmed up on Friday following the healthiest jobs added figure for months, alongside unemployment remaining unchanged at 4.1%. This was the best figure since March, just the first month of the war and figures since have likely taken a downwards trend owing to companies dealing with higher input costs by holding off on new hires.
Whether that feeling is changing or whether firms simply cannot hold off anymore on recruitment is a question that remains to be answered. Sadly, this week sees much less in terms of major releases, minus the exception of US CPI on Friday. Whether that inflation data continues to show a fall in US price pressures will have a serious impact on what the market expects of the Fed going forward.
