The Iran war after a month

1 Minute Market Rundown

  • President Trump signals keen willingness to end war, with or without a deal

  • This was all relayed in a press conference yesterday, with the President set to make another speech later today

  • Dollar in strong decline now as Oil price falls from $118 a barrel to $100

The air has felt heavier this week and it did feel that a dam would soon burst, just whether it would come in the form of a climbdown for a blowout was the question. Either Trump as going to call a halt and signal an exit, or a ground invasion was going to take place an bring even more havoc.

The President's comments yesterday were decisive "Whether we have a deal or not, I think we'll be leaving.... probably in 2 or 3 weeks".

Great news for the vast majority of us, who can breathe a sigh of relief now that is seems energy prices will be coming down before the nasty winter period. A hike in energy prices over Summer is naturally much more bearable than a Winter spike.

Great news for everyone who is seeking to buy Dollars, with the Pound up 0.6% against the Greenback just today. Of course, all of this is built on the hope that Trump means what he says, a risky proposition, but for now, we can content ourselves that it is certainly a step in the right direction.
