A Different Way to Think About Retirement

An invitation from George Jerjian for Caxton cardholders

If you’ve come across George Jerjian on the Caxton blog, you’ll know he doesn’t write about retirement in the usual way.

His travels and reflections tend to circle one idea. That this stage of life is not about slowing down, but about deciding what really matters next. Not in theory, but in a practical, lived sense.

That thinking has led to something more hands-on.

A retreat with a clear purpose

From 27 April to 1 May 2026, George is hosting a small, four-day retreat at Worth Abbey.

It is set in quiet surroundings, but the focus is not on escape. The intention is to create space to think properly. The kind of thinking that is hard to do in day-to-day life, where decisions about the future are often pushed aside.

This is not positioned as a holiday, and it is not therapy. It is also not a typical seminar where you sit and listen.

Instead, it is a structured experience built around George’s DARE Method®. The sessions are designed to help you examine where you are now, and what you want the next phase of life to look like, in a way that is both honest and constructive.

Why people choose to do this

Retirement can look straightforward from the outside. More time, fewer obligations.

In reality, many people find the opposite. Without the structure of work, there is often a gap. Not just in routine, but in direction.

This is where George’s work tends to resonate. His writing, and his own journey, suggest that this period can be one of the most meaningful, provided it is approached deliberately.

The retreat is an extension of that idea. A chance to step back, take stock, and make decisions with a bit more clarity.

An offer for Caxton cardholders

The group is limited to 15 participants. That is intentional, to keep discussions focused and personal.

As part of the Caxton community, you have access to a reduced rate for the retreat - mention your Caxton connection to George and he will tell you about the significant offer (and no doubt you will have more in common to discuss, as fellow card holder)

Considering whether it is right for you

This is not for everyone, and it is not meant to be.

If the idea of taking a few days to think seriously about what comes next feels relevant, then it is worth looking into further. Even if it is only a quiet sense that something should change.

Applications are reviewed to make sure the group is a good fit, both for you and for the other participants.

George says:

It is not a holiday.

It is not therapy.

It is not a typical seminar.

It is a structured, thoughtful experience based on my DARE Method®, designed to help you explore what this next chapter of life can truly become.

This is not for everyone, and it is not meant to be.

If the idea of taking a few days to think seriously about what comes next feels relevant, then it is worth looking into further. Even if it is only a quiet sense that something should change.

If you have followed George Jerjian through his writing and travels with Caxton, this is a chance to experience that thinking in a more direct way.
